UPDATE TO COVID-19 TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS

2 February, 2021

After the last Portuguese Ministers meeting, there were implemented added restriction to travel until 15 of February.

As these added restrictions may impact travel arrangements for those who plan to travel to Portugal for their biometric appointments, we have comprised some of the measures that could impact the most.

Regarding the European Union, there are no restrictions for countries with less than 150 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, but people from countries such as Germany, Belgium, France, Italy or the Netherlands, which have between 150 and 500 cases of covid-19 per 100 thousand inhabitants, will have to present proof of covid-19 test with a negative result performed in the previous 72 hours.

Passengers from countries with more than 500 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants, such as Spain or Ireland, will have to present the negative test but will also have to stay for 14 days in quarantine, at home or in a place indicated by the Portuguese health authorities. .

In cases where the essential trip is no longer than 48 hours, quarantine is not required.

Regarding flights from countries outside the European Union, three categories are defined. For flights from safe countries (list of the Council of the European Union Recommendation) proof of negative test is required. For flights from all other countries only essential journeys are allowed and always with proof of test.

In relation to Brazil and the United Kingdom, flights are suspended until February 14, with the exception of repatriation flights.

Please confirm with your local authorities and flight carrier before departure.
