A More Dynamic Start: Planning in a Fast-Paced Environment

While my day still begins with a structured review of client communications, the nature of this exercise has evolved. With a substantial number of investors travelling to Portugal to attend their biometric appointments, the volume and urgency of ongoing matters require an even sharper prioritization process.

Although Porto remains my primary base of operations, I now spend, on average, every other week on the move. Lisbon, Faro and Portimão have become regular working locations, reflecting both the geographical distribution of our clients’ appointments and the increasing importance of providing in-person legal support.

On the Ground: Direct Client Support and Nationwide Presence

A significant portion of my time is now dedicated to accompanying clients directly at the Immigration Services, ensuring that each step of their process is handled with precision and efficiency. These moments are critical, as they often represent key milestones in the Golden Visa journey.

At the same time, the presence of clients in Portugal has created valuable opportunities for in-person meetings. Many investors take advantage of their stay to discuss the status of their applications, explore future investment strategies, and, increasingly, consider real estate opportunities within the country. This proximity allows for a more tailored and strategic advisory approach, strengthening long-term relationships and trust.

This phase has been both demanding and highly rewarding. The need for responsiveness, adaptability and efficiency has intensified, requiring a constant balance between legal rigor and practical problem-solving in real time.

Maintaining Legal Excellence in a Dynamic Environment

Despite the growing emphasis on client-facing activities, maintaining high standards of legal work remains a priority. Time is deliberately set aside, both in the office and while travelling, to focus on the more technical and analytical aspects of each case.

This dual approach, combining on-the-ground advisory with ongoing legal structuring, has played a key role in shaping a more international and strategic perspective in my practice as a lawyer.

Maintaining Routine in a Mobile Lifestyle

The increased travel has naturally impacted daily routines, with less time spent at home and more time working from different locations across the country. Nonetheless, maintaining personal balance remains a priority.

Whenever possible, I continue to train regularly, often making use of hotel gyms or, more recently, taking advantage of Portugal’s improving weather to exercise outdoors, whether through running or playing football. These moments are essential to maintaining focus and energy in a demanding professional context.

Beyond professional commitments, I remain actively engaged in political life. I hold a leadership role within a youth political organization and have been elected as a municipal deputy in my hometown. Weekends are often dedicated to political activities, including the organization and participation in events and initiatives, allowing me to stay closely connected to civic life and public affairs.

The Meaning of Being a Lawyer in a Changing Context

Being a lawyer within our organization today demands not only technical expertise and discipline, but also adaptability, responsiveness and a deeply client-oriented approach. The current phase of the Golden Visa program has underscored the importance of proximity, both geographical and relational, in the effective delivery of legal services.

This evolving routine reflects a broader transformation in the way we operate: less confined to the office, more present alongside our clients, and increasingly focused on providing integrated, responsive and strategic support. Each day brings new challenges but also reinforces the sense of purpose that defines our work.
