Walking in a Lawyer’s Shoes: Supporting Clients at AIMA

28 April, 2026

A busy season of new beginnings

The past few months have been particularly dynamic, marked by a high volume of appointments at AIMA. Clients are travelling to Portugal to complete the collection of their biometric data — a decisive and meaningful step in their immigration journey.

Being present at this stage is something I value deeply. It is a privilege to support clients during such an important milestone, one that often represents the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.

Preparation is key

Today finds me in Faro, where I have two appointments scheduled. As with every day, preparation comes first.

Before leaving, I carefully review each client’s process, ensuring that all information is accurate and complete. This step is fundamental to ensuring that everything proceeds smoothly and in full compliance with the applicable requirements.

Guiding clients through experience

Around 30 minutes before each appointment, I arrive at AIMA. This time allows me to meet my clients and explain, in detail, how the appointment will unfold.

While this is part of my daily routine, for my clients, it is often their first direct experience with AIMA. Naturally, this can bring uncertainty. Taking the time to guide them, clarify expectations, and provide reassurance is an essential part of my role.

Beyond the appointment

As the appointments take place and are successfully completed, my role continues.

Once the biometric data has been collected, I explain the next steps of the process, ensuring that each client understands what lies ahead. These moments are particularly rewarding — not only because I can answer their questions, but also because of the connection that is built through in-person interaction.

Very often, these exchanges are mutual. Clients share their own perspectives and experiences, making each meeting unique and enriching.

The work behind the scenes

With the appointments concluded, the day moves into a different phase.

It is time to review emails received throughout the day and to prepare for the upcoming appointments. Attention to detail remains constant, as ensuring that every process is handled with care and precision is essential.

I always end the day by reviewing my to-do list and preparing the next one. This simple habit allows me to stay organized and maintain efficiency, even during the busiest periods.

Finding balance

Despite the demanding schedule, it is important to maintain balance.

At the end of the day, I make time to take care of myself, often through exercise. It is a way of ensuring that there is space not only for my role as a lawyer, but also for who I am beyond it.

A challenging yet rewarding journey

Not every day is easy, but every day is both challenging and rewarding.

Above all, my priority is to ensure that every client I support feels confident that everything within my reach is being done to guarantee a smooth and secure immigration process.
